The Department of Meteorology issues a warning notice on strong winds and rough sea areas. The notice forecasts that strong winds of about 40 to 50 kilometres per hour can occur in the North Central, North Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, and Southern Provinces and in the Trincomalee District.Meanwhile, strong winds up to 60 to 70 kilometres per hour can occur in the sea areas off the coast extending from Chilaw via Kalpitiya to Mannar, and from Matara via Hambantota to Potuvil, the Department of Meteorology mentioned.The department advises the naval and fishing communities not to venture into these sea areas until further notice is issued.
