A 24-hour detention order has been obtained for the two suspects arrested in connection with the abduction and murder of a Chinese national in Colombo Port City.
This was after they were produced before Colombo’s Aluthkade No. 8 Court yesterday.
Police said operations are under way to locate the other suspect wanted in connection with the murder.
Two of the three suspects wanted in connection with the abduction and murder of a Chinese national in Colombo Port City were arrested on the night before last.
The arrests were made during an operation conducted by the Colombo Crimes Division in the Sigiriya area.
The two Chinese suspects were arrested following an extensive investigation.
Police also revealed that they had remained in Sri Lanka after the murder, having changed their appearances and names.
On the night of 22 July, three Chinese nationals were fishing on a bridge at Colombo Port City when a group of other Chinese nationals arrived in a van, assaulted them, tied their hands and feet, and abducted one of them.
The body of the abducted Chinese national was later found abandoned in the Karadana area of Eheliyagoda.
A post-mortem examination revealed that the death had been caused by damage to internal organs resulting from stab wounds.
It was later revealed that the Chinese national who was killed, identified as Hao Zong, was involved in computer-related crimes.
Two other Chinese nationals had previously been arrested in connection with the incident.
