After reigning as the undisputed song of the summer, Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” has now broken the Billboard Hot 100 record with 23 weeks at No. 1 to become the longest-running chart-topper of all time. The track can be found on her sophomore SAWGOD/Columbia album Dandelion, and has amassed more than 712 million plays at Spotify alone.
Among its many other milestones: 41 weeks at No. 1 on Hot Country Songs, 34 at No. 1 on Country Streaming Songs, 23 on the all-genre Streaming Songs tally and 18 on Country Airplay, plus the crown for longest-running No. 1 hit ever on Spotify’s U.S. chart.
Internationally, “Choosin’ Texas” made Langley the first country act to hit No. 1 on the Official U.K. Singles Chart in more than two decades, and has reached similar high-water marks in Canada, Australia and the Netherlands. It’s up for three honors at the upcoming CMA Awards and four more at this weekend’s MTV Video Music Awards, while a host of Grammy nominations are sure to emerge in November.
“Choosin’ Texas” was co-written by Langley with Miranda Lambert, Luke Dick and Joybeth Taylor, and produced by Langley, Lambert and Ben West.
The 27-year-old artist is in the midst of a North American headlining tour that next visits Knoxville, Tn., on Thursday (Sept. 24).
