Production on Showtime‘s Dexter: Resurrection‘s second season is officially underway in New York City, and when the show returns, fans will be in for a treat.

Desmond Harrington, who played Joey Quinn on the OG series and for two episodes of Resurrection Season 1, has been promoted to series regular for Season 2. This could be dangerous, considering how it worked out for Angel Batista (David Zayas) and his return to the franchise, but hopefully, he will survive the season. It’s important to note that Quinn was suspicious of Dexter’s (Michael C. Hall) extracurriculars for a large part of the original Dexter series. With Batista’s death, this could put Quinn in a position to want to follow the trail and investigate his friend’s death.

A logline for Season 2 was also released: Dexter: Resurrection finds Dexter Morgan (Hall) caught between two killers – one notorious and the other terrorizing New York in ways no one ever anticipated – all while battling his greatest enemy yet: a mid-life crisis. Harrison (Jack Alcott) continues his own pursuit of justice as father and son face their darkest chapter.

Watch on Deadline

Returning alongside Hall are Uma Thurman as Charley, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine as Blessing Kamara, Kadia Sarif as Detective Claudette Wallace, Dominic Fumusa as Detective Melvin Oliva, and James Remar as Dexter’s father, Harry Morgan.

As Deadline revealed exclusively, Brian Cox has joined the Season 2 cast as a series regular, solving the big mystery from Season 1. Who is the New York Ripper? Cox will play Don Frampt, the New York Ripper, a serial killer who terrorized the City years ago. Though no longer active as a killer, he’s found a new way to live into his infamy by continuing to taunt the survivors of his long-ago murder spree.

We also announced the casting of Dan Stevens as the second big bad of Season 2. He will play Owen Stark, a serial killer who, much like Zodiac, taunts the police with phone calls threatening the murder of innocent citizens. When he follows through with the awful deeds…the City and the Police are terrorized.

Bokeem Woodbine and Nona Parker Johnson will also serve as series regulars.

Hall promised they have “another thrill ride planned” in a video posted on Instagram this morning, celebrating the show’s first week in production. Next to him was Remar, with a warning to fans, “follow the code.”

Executive producer Marcos Siega will direct Episode 201, as per his Instagram post on April 13.

From Paramount Television Studios and Counterpart Studios, Dexter: Resurrection is executive produced by Clyde Phillips, who also serves as showrunner, Hall, Scott Reynolds, Marcos Siega, Tony Hernandez, and Lilly Burns. Additional executive producers include John Goldwyn and Sara Colleton, along with Veronica West, Kirsa Rein, Tanner Bean, and Katrina Mathewson.
