Government Cancels Wednesday Holiday to Ensure Essential Services
The Office of the Commissioner General of Essential Services has announced that the special leave granted to government offices has been cancelled with effect from April 8.
According to the statement, the decision was taken to ensure the efficient and uninterrupted functioning of essential services across the country.
The leave had previously been granted under Public Administration Circular No. 09/2026, which allowed a weekly holiday on Wednesdays. However, authorities have now decided that such leave should not continue in order to maintain essential public services.
