Adam Scott hated everything about Coachella apart from The Strokes: “It was terrible”
Severance star Adam Scott has lifted the lid on his horrendous time at Coachella.
The Californian festival recently took place across the past two weekends with Justin Bieber, Sabrina Carpenter, and Karol G topping the bill with other acts including David Byrne, The XX, and Addison Rae, but Scott only had eyes for The Strokes.
In an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live on April 22nd, Scott, who had just returned from the festival, gave the host the lowdown on his forgettable experience in the desert.
Scott explained, “Our daughter, Frankie, she’s 17 years old. She just, somehow, and I don’t remember when and how, convinced Naomi and I to bring she and four of her friends to Coachella. She never asked us, it just became a thing we were doing, and so we did it.”
“We were there for like four days,” Scott added, before elaborating that “we dropped them off and picked them up a couple times” and only spent “one of the days” inside Coachella.
Although he was only at the festival for a day, that was more than enough for Scott, who damningly said of Coachella, “It was terrible. I hated it.”
While it wasn’t Scott’s first time at Coachella, noting he “had gone to Coachella like a long time ago”, before clarifying, “I just now hate it.”
However, there was one plus point of attending Coachella, which was witnessing indie legends The Strokes live, sharing, “The night we went, I really wanted to see The Strokes. And so I, you know, we went and saw them, and that was great. But then that ends, and there’s nowhere to go, there’s nowhere to lay down and relax while you wait.”
The next act that Scott eventually saw was Justin Bieber, who he did concede was “terrific”, but what came afterwards was a night-ruiner, sharing, “And then when that ended, it took us an hour just to find Frankie and her friends. We find them, we get them in the car, and then we were in the parking lot for two and a half hours, just to get out of the parking lot. And like, we went to bed at like 5:00am.”
The Strokes’ set during weekend two at Coachella saw the band use their platform to make a political message and use the visuals behind them to take a stand against the US regime throughout modern history.
While playing ‘Oblivius’, which they hadn’t previously performed live since 2016, the slideshow behind the band included political figures like Omar Torrijos, Jacobo Árbenz and Jaime Roldós Aguilera, all described as leaders allegedly overthrown by the CIA.
The New Yorkers also included an image of Martin Luther King Jr, along with the statement, “US Govt found guilty of his murder in civil trial,” as well as highlighting the devastation caused to universities in Iran and Gaza.
