President Donald Trump called on ABC to fire late-night host Jimmy Kimmel over a joke he told last week.
During his monologue Thursday, Kimmel said first lady Melania Trump had “a glow like an expectant widow.” Two days later, a man attempted to rush the White House Correspondents' Dinner — which the president and his wife were attending — while firing shots and carrying multiple weapons.
"I appreciate that so many people are incensed by Kimmel’s despicable call to violence, and normally would not be responsive to anything that he said but, this is something far beyond the pale," Trump posted on Truth Social on Monday. "Jimmy Kimmel should be immediately fired by Disney and ABC."
Despite claiming he wouldn't normally respond to Kimmel, Trump did call for his removal multiple times after the ABC host made a joke about the assassination of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk in September.
