The President of the Maldives – Mohamed Muizzu is scheduled to visit Sri Lanka on May 03 on an invitation extended by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
The Maldivian President will remain in the country until May 05.
Speaking at today’s (April 28) Cabinet briefing, Cabinet Spokesman – Minister Nalinda Jayatissa announced that Cabinet approval has been granted to sign 06 Memoranda of Understanding between the two countries during President Muizzu’s visit.

JVP cadres hurled dung at their own leader – Sugeeshwara (Video)

A group of New People’s Front activists, including Sugeeshwara Bandara, who staged a protest near the residence of Secretary to the Ministry of Finance Harshana Suriyapperuma in the Akuregoda, Pelawatte area this morning (April 28), has had cow dung hurled at them.
The group had arrived at the location to protest in connection with the alleged case where USD 2.5 million from the Treasury was diverted to an unauthorized account through a cyberattack.
According to reports, several individuals, including Bandara, were affected in the incident.
Speaking at the location while pointing to a roller door soiled with cow dung, Bandara said that a group from the JVP cadre had hurled dung at their own leader (Harshana Suriyapperuma).

A tense situation subsequently developed between the two groups, prompting police intervention.
