The President of the Maldives – Mohamed Muizzu is scheduled to visit Sri Lanka on May 03 on an invitation extended by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
The Maldivian President will remain in the country until May 05.
Speaking at today’s (April 28) Cabinet briefing, Cabinet Spokesman – Minister Nalinda Jayatissa announced that Cabinet approval has been granted to sign 06 Memoranda of Understanding between the two countries during President Muizzu’s visit.

Cabinet Spokesman Minister Nalinda Jayatissa has revealed that an investigation has been launched into the disappearance of another payment done by Sri Lanka.
Speaking at the Cabinet briefing today (April 28), the minister revealed that a payment of USD 600,000 made to the US Post by Sri Lanka Post, has disappeared in this manner.
An investigation has been launched following a complaint by the US Post about not receiving the payment, he added.
The revelation comes in the wake of cyber hackers diverting funds amounting to USD 2.5 million from the Treasury.

Cabinet approval has been granted to provide permanent appointments to nearly 9,800 currently employed in the state sector on temporary and contract basis.
The proposal was jointly presented by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake in his capacity as Finance Minister and the Minister of Public Administration.
