The Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama has ordered the release on bail of the former Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Motor Traffic, who is currently serving as a Commissioner at the Department of Probation and Child Care Services, following her arrest yesterday (April 28) on suspicion of corruption.
The Magistrate ordered her release on 02 sureties of Rs. 01 million each, while also imposing a foreign travel ban on the suspect.
Officials of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) informed the court that the arrest was made over allegations of corruption related to the issuance of number plates for a vehicle said to have had no valid initial registration.
Attorney-at-law Ajith Pathirana, appearing for the suspect, requested bail during proceedings.

After considering submissions, the Magistrate granted bail and fixed the next hearing for June 26.
