Laggala Police have reported that a well-known private tutor was arrested today (29th) on suspicion of abusing a schoolgirl. A luxury motor vehicle belonging to the suspect was also taken into police custody.
The arrested individual has been identified as Chandana Ranasinghe, a prominent English tutor.
According to Laggala Police, investigations have revealed significant information suggesting that the tutor would take young girls to the Knuckles Forest Reserve in Matale, where he allegedly abused them inside his vehicle.
Police further noted that a complaint had been lodged a few days prior, alleging that the father of one of the students had assaulted the tutor. Following this complaint, the girl involved was summoned for questioning, during which the extent of the misconduct began to emerge.

The suspect is highly popular in the Laggala, Bakamuna, and Naula areas. Police reports indicate that he allegedly facilitated romantic involvements among his students and personally engaged in the abuse of schoolgirls attending his classes.
