In line with International Workers’ Day, which falls tomorrow (May 01), numerous May Day rallies, processions, meetings, and commemorative events have been organised across several parts of the country.
Accordingly, the Sri Lanka Police has implemented special security arrangements and a traffic management plan for Colombo in view of the anticipated events.
Police stated that the main rallies, parades, and celebrations will be centered in Colombo, while various institutions and organisations have also scheduled commemorative programmes in other regions.
The Police Media Division said all police stations have been instructed to ensure a peaceful environment for the events, while maintaining security, traffic regulation, road safety, and the uninterrupted flow of normal vehicular movement.

SDIGs in charge of provinces have also been directed by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to take necessary measures regarding rallies and meetings held outside Colombo.
Details of the venues and routes for rallies and processions organised by political parties and trade unions in Colombo are as follows:
