Former Wales international Nadine Griffiths has been appointed director of women's rugby at the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU).

Griffiths won 44 caps for Wales in the front row and played at the 1998 World Cup. Shewas later part of the women's coaching team on the tour of South Africa in 2013.

She has gained experience in professional sport, governing bodies and multi-agency partnerships having previously worked at the WRU as a rugby development officer.

Griffiths succeeds Belinda Moore, who has left the WRU to join the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) as The Hundred's growth director.

"I feel like I have come full circle from the young girl in Pencoed who watched the 1991 Rugby World Cup and dared to dream of pulling on that red jersey, to now being responsible for inspiring the next generation to do exactly the same," Griffiths said.
