JPEGMAFIA has announced his new album, EXPERIMENTAL RAP, which will land on May 21st, along with an extensive 2026 North American tour. In anticipation, JPEGMAFIA also dished out his first taste of the project with the searing lead single, “babygirl.” Stream it below.

EXPERIMENTAL RAP was written, mixed, and produced entirely by JPEGMAFIA, and is expected to be a wide-ranging project in line with the friction and noise of the modern era, emboldened by influences from gospel, industrial, and underground rap.

“babygirl” arrives as the first preview of EXPERIMENTAL RAP, and shows a continuation of the artist’s run of genre-blurring work, seamlessly folding rock, rap, and punk with high-intensity production and inexhaustible yet pointed bars. It opens with a militaristic quandary, “What you gonna do, what you gonna do?” — a looped vocal sample that appears to be chopped from Saul Williams’ 2007 song, “tr(n)igger.”

The accompanying music video, directed by Logan Fields & JPEGMAFIA, follows a single nude woman surrounded by a battalion of others buttoned up in military uniforms and blindfolds. They focus on the outlier and salute her with a practiced respect before marching into an abandoned industrial building. As they reach their destination, “babygirl” shifts sonically and rips into raw overdrive as the video shifts from color to monochrome, the squadron is set free from their blindfolds, and they become equal in the rain.

Alongside the album announcement and song, JPEGMAFIA has laid out the plans for “The Experimental Rap Tour” with 20 dates set across North America starting September 22nd in Spokane, WA. The run quickly moves through major markets including Los Angeles, Chicago, and Toronto, before hitting back-to-back nights in New York City, and wrapping in Atlanta on October 24th. The tour will feature support from redveil and matt proxy.
