Lauren Sanchez and Jeff Bezos head to Anna Wintour party amid calls to boycott Met Gala

Celebrities are being urged to boycott the 2026 Met Gala after Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez made a multi-million dollar donation to the Costume Institute as honorary co-chairs

Lauren Sanchez and Jeff Bezos were seen holding hands as they headed to Anna Wintour's pre-Met Gala party.

The pair were seen arriving at the exclusive bash in New York City on Sunday evening, April 3. Former journalist Lauren, 56, and Amazon founder Jeff, 62, were pictured stepping out of a black Cadillac SUV as they arrived at the event.

Lauren wore a red jacquard outfit which featured a low-cut blazer that cinched her in at the waist and a matching maxi skirt. She completed her look with a pair of black pointed stilettos and a small black handbag. Lauren and Jeff's attendance at Anna's party comes amid mounting pressure for celebrities to boycott the Met Gala on May 4.

Lauren styled her hair in loose waves and opted for a minimal makeup look. Jeff arrived at the party wearing a light gray suit with a black shirt, which he wore with the top button open.

He added a pair of shiny black boots to his look as well as tinted aviator sunglasses and a beaded bracelet. The businessman went unshaven for the party, sporting a trimmed white beard and moustache.

Also at the pre-Met Gala party on Sunday night were Sabrina Carpenter, Nicole Kidman, Serena Williams and Donatella Versace. Zoe Kravitz also made an appearance at the dinner, as she was spotted sporting a shiny diamond ring on her ring finger following Harry Styles engagement rumors.

Anna's dinner party took place amid calls for celebrities to boycott the 2026 Met Gala. Fashion's biggest night of the year will be taking place on Monday, May 4, but it's been surrounded by controversy thanks to Lauren and Jeff's involvement.

The two were named honorary co-chairs of this year's event after reportedly making a multi-million dollar donation to the Costume Institute. Protesters have taken to the streets in New York to demand a boycott of the Met Gala over Amazon's labor practices.

With boycott calls mounting, some stars are skipping this year's Met Gala. Meryl Streep reportedly declined an invitation to serve as co-chair for this year's Met Gala, with reports suggesting she won't be attending fashion's biggest night of the year.

Meryl has never attended the event, but was anticipated to make her Met Gala debut following the premiere of The Devil Wears Prada 2, in which she plays a fictionalized version of Anna. The actress appears in the film alongside Anne Hathaway, Stanley Tucci and Emily Blunt, all of whom have been confirmed as guests at the Met Gala.

Lady Gaga is also rumored to be skipping this year's event, with her last Met Gala appearance having been in 2019. Zendaya, who has served some iconic Met Gala looks, has been confirmed as not attending the event.

According to Elle, Zendaya is taking a short break after doing two press tours almost simultaneously for The Drama and Euphoria Season 3. She's also started promoting The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has also confirmed he and his wife, Rama Duwaji, won't be at the Met Gala. The announcement is a break from NYC mayoral tradition.

In a statement, he explained, "That's true. My focus is also on affordability and making the most expensive city in the United States affordable, and that's what I'm looking to spend a lot of my time focused on," which many believe was a nod to the billionaire's presence at the event.
