Stephen Miller took to Fox News to insist he acted on instinct to protect his pregnant wife during the chaotic White House Correspondents' Dinner evacuation.
Appearing on
Hannity
, Miller, who serves as deputy chief of staff for policy and homeland security advisor, offered a straightforward defense of his behavior during the frenzied exit from the
Washington
Hilton.
"It's just a husband's natural reaction," Miller said. "What is any husband's instinct going to be? He's going to obviously put his body over
his wife

"Um...as usual there are pics that show something very different," wrote another user. "Miller put his wife in front of him. I'm not going to say 'like a shield' but he did not, in fact, put his body over his wife. Isn't there someone behind him? That's where his wife should have been, between them."
Another user penned, "He used his wife and his baby as a shield while grabbing her t---y to steer her." Another user, Carol P., echoed the sentiment, "True. Why was this husband hanging off his pregnant wife's breast and behind her using her as a human shield?"
Not everyone piled on. One X user offered a contrarian view that was mixed with an insult and praise, "Steven Miller is an evil ghoul. He handled that situation like a man protecting his pregnant wife. Good man."

Katie Miller is approximately eight months pregnant
Katie Miller, who is approximately eight months pregnant with the couple's fourth child and works as a political adviser and conservative podcaster, previously appeared on Fox News to defend her husband, saying security personnel directed her to go ahead of Stephen because the threat was coming from behind them.
She also explained the moment that had many online convinced her husband was "copping a feel" during the escape. "He wasn't going to put his hands on my stomach, because that's where our baby is," she said.
Katie added that she was unaware the images had gone viral until she checked X. "There's this like very funny post, and I look at Stephen, and I was like, 'Did you really need to do that?' And he's like, 'What did I do?'"
Miller's Fox News appearance did little to quiet the chorus of critics, who argued his on-air explanation strained credulity against the photographic evidence they believed showed otherwise.
