Nicknames like "my sweetheart" or "my darling baby," "very strong" hugs that sometimes lingered on their chest, and a manga workshop where participants drew scantily clad female characters. These are some of the allegations brought against Nicolas G., 47, a former activity leader employed by the City of Paris. He was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, May 5, before the Paris criminal court, charged with sexually harassing nine 10-year-old victims and sexually assaulting three of them. This trial, which was expected to be held behind closed doors, is the first to stem from a major scandal that broke in Paris last spring, in which after-school workers have been accused of abusing children.

The case at Titon School began a few months earlier, in the autumn of 2024, when a group of fifth-grade girls at this school in the 11th arrondissement reported the "very strange" behavior of "Nico" to their principal. Most had known him since early elementary school, and, for some, he had been their "favorite activity leader."

The principal immediately alerted the local Paris city education department, bypassing the school's municipal education supervisor. Nicolas G., who was on track to become a permanent employee after working as a temporary staff member for about 20 years, was immediately suspended by City Hall. He was arrested and placed in police custody on May 6, 2025, then released under conditional release pending trial.
