Game of Thrones author George R. R. Martin has offered an update on the development of a movie inspired by one of his short stories, and it will star Milla Jovovich and Dave Bautista.
Bautista has previously stated that he hopes his acting career isn't defined by his tenure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, though he's thankful for that opportunity to play Drax for the last decade. “Honestly, I could give a f*ck [about being a movie star],” he said in an interview last year. “I don't care about the spotlight, I don't care about fame. I just want to be a better actor.” In Knock at the Cabin, the newest horror from director M. Night Shyalaman, his performance as the softly spoken Leonard was "revelatory."

Just to ensure we're on the same page (pun not intended), this latest adaptation is nothing to do with the A Song of Ice and Fire universe. Directed by Paul W. S. Anderson, In the Lost Lands is another fantasy from Martin but centres on a small cast of characters who are set on an impossible crusade.
"The movie will follow a queen, desperate to obtain the gift of shape shifting, who makes a daring play: She hires the sorceress Gray Alys (Jovovich), a woman as feared as she is powerful," read Deadline's report on the movie. "Sent to the ghostly wilderness of the 'Lost Lands,' Alys and her guide, the drifter Boyce (Bautista), must outwit and outfight man and demon in a fable that explores the nature of good and evil, debt and fulfillment, love and loss."
