Machado, SD agree on 11-year, $350M extension (source)

Machado had six years and $180 million remaining on the contract he signed with the Padres prior to the 2019 season. But he also had an opt-out clause in that deal which he could’ve exercised following the ’23 season. This past offseason, he informed the Padres of his plans to exercise that opt-out unless the two sides could agree on an extension.
