The parties interested in acquiring Manchester United are waiting to hear whether or not they have been successful following last week's deadline for second bids.

Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani and INEOS chief Sir Jim Ratcliffe are still considered to be the two frontrunners - even though both have failed to meet the Glazer's whopping £6billion valuation of the club.

US hedge fund Elliott Management are also believed to be firmly in the mix, although they are only offering funding for a third party or putting up funds for a smaller stake in the club.

Meanwhile, it's believed that the Glazers are split over selling the club, with Avram Glazer firmly against the idea of sanctioning a sale. Erik ten Hag has already made it clear, though, that he will not accept his transfer plans and preparations for next season being impacted by the ongoing saga by setting a deadline in his bid to acquire an elite No.9 in the summer transfer window.
