According to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), DEA agents working under the Memphis Safe Task Force were at the Burger King on North Hollywood Street near James Road serving an arrest warrant for Darrin Pigram, a man who was wanted for aggravated assault, aggravated burglary and employing a firearm in commission of a felony.

Pigram was approached by agents when he reached for his waistband, produced a firearm resulting in the agent firing their weapon, striking Pigram, says Memphis Safe Task Force officials.
Pigram was taken to the hospital for treatment, but later died.
No other injuries were reported.
“It’s never been like, like this. There’s crime everywhere you go but like I said like its senseless, it don’t make sense. People are losing their children. It shouldn’t have resulted to this,” said a woman who lives nearby and did not want to be identified by Action News 5 crews.
District Attorney Steve Mulroy has requested the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation to investigate the surroundings of the shooting.
Theodore Martin Senior is the pastor of The Shekinnah Glory Ministries and said Pigram was a good man who just started attending his church.
“Very caring, very loving person and that’s why it hurts,” said Martin. “When they say a mother loses a child, that’s one thing and something but when a pastor loses a member that he just took in, I’m happy that he gave his life to Christ, but I’d much rather have him here.”
Martin said Pigram was not at church on Sunday because he wanted to spend the day with his mother.
Martin said Pigram would hang out at the Burger King frequently and the two would run into each other.
“I’m usually here every morning and he’d meet me here and we’d just talk,” said Martin. “A nice young man. Nice young man. whatever he did in the past, I don’t know. I just know him from here and the church. I’m not here to pass judgement on what happened.”
The Memphis Police Department, Federal Bureau of Investigation and the National Guard all responded to the scene.
