England all-rounder Ben Stokes has been appointed as a new test captain for England Men’s Test team.
England’s director Rob Key said in a statement, “I had no hesitation in offering the role of Test captain to Ben.”
“He epitomises the mentality and approach we want to take this team forward into the next era of red-ball cricket. I am delighted that he has accepted, and he is ready for the added responsibility and the honour. He thoroughly deserves the opportunity.”

England Cricket management is looking to restructure their support staff including captain after their Ashes debacle last year. Now as Ben has been appointed the test captain, the announcement for new Head Coach is also expected soon. Former SA player Gary Kirsten is said to be the front runner for the post.

After being appointed as the test captain, Ben Stokes said in a statement, “I am honoured to be given the chance to lead the England Test team. This is a real privilege, and I’m excited about getting started this summer.”
Ben also thanked former captain Joe root who stepped down from the captaincy couple of weeks ago.
He said, “I want to thank Joe for everything he has done for English Cricket and for always being a great ambassador for the sport all across the world. He has been a massive part of my development as a leader in the dressing room, and he will continue to be a key ally for me in this role.”

For Ben Stokes, the first assignment as a test captain will be three-Test series against New Zealand which starts from June 2.
Ben stokes is vastly experienced. He has played in 79 test matches, has scored 5061 runs and also has 174 test wickets to his name.
